Meet Maggie Calder
West Meets East

1 Maggie Inspiration Talk.jpg

Maggie embodies the essence of the East while connecting with the West. Her commitment to inner courage has broadened her perspective, allowing her to explore the unknown and create pathways for personal transformation.

This journey has enabled her to witness emotional and physical pain without judgment, helping her maintain a state of non-suffering even amidst actual suffering. Maggie's path was enriched through her studies with spiritual masters.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she was given the courage to embrace life.

As a child, she became a motorcycle racer; as a young woman, she trained as a chef, later running a 5-star restaurant such as Joe Fortes in Vancouver, and later owned a successful catering company. After marriage, she was a co-owner of a sought-after renovation and design company.

Maggie did not learn from books; she was called to sit at the master's to understand directly. On a remote island in British Columbia, she met Wayne Liquorman, an Advaita teacher, whose wisdom —" that & what is what" — opened her to Eckhart Tolle. Tolle taught her that the present moment is where we can transform our lives. At a Tolle retreat, Maggie met and married her partner, becoming a stepmother and co-owner of a retreat center in Chicago called "Heartland". Heartland hosted various teachers from around the world, including Shri Mooji, whose teachings on loving-kindness further deepened Maggie's knowledge.

After her 11-year marriage ended, Maggie spent ten transformative years in Northern Thailand, studying under Master Monk Bhasakorn and receiving the nun-monk name Maytiwee. She dedicated her life to helping children, teaching in temples in Thailand, Cambodia, Bali, and India, focusing on self-awareness and inner kindness.

As a leader in Canada, the U.S.A., and Thailand, Maytiwee discovered profound wisdom that enriched her teachings. While living in Kelowna, British Columbia, she had the honour of being a keynote speaker for Carolyn Mayss, sharing her meditation skills and brain wisdom with an audience of over 1,200 people.

Maggie is a distinguished expert in meditation and a respected coach, helping others live harmoniously.
